[origin: EP0410258A2] The high-speed circuit breaker (limiter) is arranged in series with a power circuit breaker and is provided with a magnetic drive whose U-shaped magnet yoke forms a slot in which the moving contact is arranged and whose central yoke limb is provided with a magnet coil. According to the invention, the switching path is arranged between the limbs (22, 23) of the magnet drive (20). The magnet coil (25) is connected in parallel with the switching contacts (3 to 5) of the high-speed circuit breaker. Provided for the moving contact (5) is an additional drive, which is arranged outside the limbs (22, 23) of the magnet drive (20), in the scatter field of the latter, and is mechanically coupled to the moving contact (5). This embodiment of the high-speed circuit breaker results in an increased extinguishing capability and a short switching-off time. <IMAGE>
