A locking device for controlled, directional locking or blocking of a movement has a braking device (40) which prevents or releases rotation of a brake shaft in a controlled manner. A drive shaft (22) acts directly or indirectly on the element (11), the movement of which is to be locked or blocked directionally. Eine Sperreinrichtung zum steuerbaren, richtungsabhängigen Sperren bzw. Blockieren einer Bewegung weist eine Bremseinrichtung (40) auf, die gesteuert die Drehung einer Bremswelle verhindert bzw. freigibt. Eine Antriebswelle (22) greift mittelbar oder unmittelbar an dem Element (11) an, dessen Bewegung richtungsabhängig gesperrt bzw. blockiert werden soll. Als Kupplung zwischen die Bremswelle und die Antriebswelle ist ein einseitig sperrender Freilauf (45,46) eingeschaltet.
