[origin: WO8909901A1] A magnetic shaft seal comprises a packing ring (1) made of a permanently magnetized plastic, surrounding a rotatably mounted shaft (5) and having on the face nearer the shaft (15) a circular recess (2). The regions of the packing ring adjacent to the recess (2) act as pole rings (3) each of which, together with the shaft surface (5), forms a ferrofluid (7) filled gap. The circular recess (2) between the two pole rings (3) narrows radially outward, preferably forming an arc or a point, and the packing ring (1) has a curved magnetic field in the region of its pole rings (3).

Une garniture magnétique d'étanchéité pour arbres comprend une bague d'étanchéité (1) en un plastique magnétisé de manière permanente qui entoure un arbre (5) rotatif et qui est pourvue du côté qui fait face à l'arbre (15) d'un évidement annulaire (2). Les régions de la bague d'étanchéité situées de part et d'autre de cet évidement annulaire (2) agissent comme des pôles annulaires (3) et forment avec la surface de l'arbre (5) chacune une fente remplie de ferrofluide (7). L'évidement annulaire (2) entre les deux pôles annulaires (3) se rétrécit radialement vers l'extérieur, de préférence en formant un arc ou une pointe, et la bague d'étanchéité (1) est pourvue d'un champ magnétique courbe au niveau de ses pôles annulaires (3).
