[origin: EP0411442A2] A device to support hanging plates (18, 22) of stone or a similar material for facade covering comprises carrying profiles (14) which engage with holding webs (42, 44) in receiving grooves (54, 58) in two opposite edge faces of the covering plates, running continuously in the latter. Arranged on the holding webs (42, 44) in the corner regions of the covering plates (18, 22) are fixing profiles (52) which produce a two-point bearing of the covering plates (18, 22) on the carrying profiles (14). The space delimited by the walls of the grooves (54, 58) and the webs (42, 44) is, in this case, filled with an adhesive (60, 64), preferably of silicone. Thus, broken pieces resulting from damage to the covering plates are firmly held on the profiles and are unable to fall. <IMAGE>
