The object of the invention is to provide a device for releasing the thread start on the surface of cops, which has a high efficiency. <??>According to the invention, the device possesses a thread release which is designed as a locating knife and which is assigned an electronic sensor for checking the grasping of the thread. There is also a timer, in which a maximum location time is stored. Command signals can be generated directly by the sensor when the thread has been detected within the maximum location time. The locating knife is assigned a locating guide. The front part of the locating knife is made wedge-shaped and the back of the locating knife is curved in such a way that the grasped thread sliding on it is lifted off so far from the cop surface that it can be detected by the sensor. <IMAGE>

Die Vorrichtung besitzt einen als Suchermesser (16,18,53,57) ausgebildeten Fadenlöser, dem ein elektronischer Sensor (48,49,54,55,58,59) zur Kontrolle der Erfassung des Fadens (47) zugeordnet ist. Weiterhin ist ein Zeitgeber vorhanden, in dem eine maximale Suchzeit gespeichert ist. Durch den Sensor sind umittelbar Befehlssignale erzeugbar, wenn der Faden innerhalb der maximalen Suchzeit erkannt wurde. Dem Suchermesser ist eine Sucherführung (15,17,52,56) zugeordnet. Der vordere Teil des Suchermessers ist keilförmig ausgebildet und der Rücken des Suchermessers ist so gewölbt, daß der erfaßte aufgleitende Faden soweit von der Kopsoberfläche abgehoben wird, daß er durch den Sensor erkennbar ist. <IMAGE>
