Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0412383A2] In each of two knife holders (2, 3) which are driven in rotation in opposite directions about their longitudinal axes extending transversely to the running direction (C) of the web (4) to be cut, one cutting blade (5, 7) is held. Each cutting blade (5, 7) cooperates with a cutting strip (18, 20) provided on the other knife holder (2, 3). Each cutting strip (18, 20) forms part of a clamping element (13, 15), by which the corresponding cutting blade (5, 7) is firmly clamped. Seen in the direction of rotation of the knife holders (2, 3), the cutting strip (18) is mounted in the upper knife holder (2) ahead of the cutting blade (5), while the cutting strip (20) is arranged behind the cutting blade (7) in the lower knife holder (3). The paper web (4) running through between the knife holders (2, 3) is cut first by the cutting blade (7) in the lower knife holder (3) and then by the cutting blade (5) in the upper knife holder (2). The paper strip (4a) cut away in this process is held on the lower knife holder (3) by means of suction air and is only released when it is outside the cutting region (E). <IMAGE>
