[origin: EP0412474A2] A method of operation of a refrigeration system which supplies a number of cold consumers (7a, 7b, 7c) is described. In a circuit, a refrigerant is compressed (2), liquefied (3), expanded (9) in the different cold consumers (7a, 7b, 7c) and evaporated (10) and subsequently conducted back into the circuit (11a, 11b, 11c; 1). In the method, the output of the refrigeration system is controlled. According to the invention, the instantaneous cold requirement of the individual cold consumers (7a, 7b, 7c) is determined and the output of the refrigeration system is adjusted depending upon the totality of the determined cold requirement values. <IMAGE>
