[origin: US4998669A] A folded container comprises a rectangular bottom and four folded-out sides. A double walled border flange extends around the periphery of the container parallel to the bottom. The free open edges of the border flange face toward the external surfaces of the sides. The sides are connected by means of folded, triangular corner sections. Two border strips forming portions of the border flange are provided with narrow recesses which mate with correspondingly shaped projections disposed on the edges of some of the corner sections. The projections snap into the recesses upon the folding out of the sides to render the container self-supporting in the erected position for subsequent processing prior to the bonding of the individual surfaces.

Bei einem gefalteten Behälter mit einem rechteckigen Boden (2) und vier aufgefalteten Seitenfeldern (7,8,9,10) ist ein Randflansch vorgesehen, der doppelwandig ausgebildet ist und parallel zum Boden verläuft. Die offenen Schnittkanten (41) des Randflansches sind gegen die Außenflächen der Seitenfelder gerichtet. Die Seitenfelder sind jeweils durch zwei umgefaltete dreieckförmige Eckfelder (11 bis 18) verbunden. Zwei den Randflansch bildende gegenüberliegende Randstreifen (32, 36) sind in der Nähe der Eckfelder an ihren Schnittkanten (40, 42) mit schmalen Aussparungen (47,48,49,50) versehen, denen entsprechend geformte Ansätze (51,52,53,54) an den Schnittkanten der benachbarten Eckfedler zugeordnet sind. Die Ansätze schnappen in die Aussparungen ein, sobald die Seitenfelder des Behälters aufgefaltet sind. Der Behälter ist daher bereits im aufgerichtetem Zustand stabil und läßt sich handhaben, noch bevor die einzelnen Flächen miteinander versiegelt sind.
