In order to provide a covering rail for the wide cylinder gap of a sheet-fed rotary offset printing press, which rail in conjunction with the mounted rubber blanket allows the entire region of the cylinder gap to be shielded tightly against penetration of liquids, thereby preventing the rubber blanket from loosening and, at the same time, bringing about improved compensation of imbalances in the rotating blanket cylinder, a covering rail (8) is provided in the cylinder gap (2) of the blanket cylinder, which rail has an approximately mushroom-shaped rail profile in cross-section. The rail head (9) is supported along the cylinder gap (2) via the wound-up rubber blanket (5) on clamping spindles (3, 4). The covering rail (8) is attached to the bottom (11) of the cylinder gap (2) by means of an attachment device (12, 15). Um eine Abdeckschiene für den breiten Zylinderkanal einer Bogenrotations-Offsetdruckmaschine zu schaffen, die es ermöglicht, in Verbindung mit dem eingespannten Gummituch den gesamten Bereich des Zylinderkanals dicht gegen Eindringen von Flüssigkeiten abzuschirmen, dabei eine Lockerung des Gummituches zu verhindern und zugleich einen besseren Ausgleich von Unwuchten des sich drehenden Gummituchzylinders zu bewirken, ist in dessen Zylinderkanal (2) eine Abdeckschiene (8) vorgesehen, die im Querschnitt eine etwa pilzförmige Schienenprofilform aufweist. Der Schienenkopf (9) ist längs des Zylinderkanals (2) über das aufgewickelte Gummituch (5) auf Spannspindeln (3, 4) abgestützt. Mit einer Befestigungseinrichtung (12, 15) wird die Abdeckschiene (8) am Boden (11) des Zylinderkanals (2) befestigt. Zwischen den Seitenwänden (13, 14) des Gummituchzylinders (1) und den diesen zugewandten Flächen am Schienenkopf (9) ist eine Dichtungsmasse (16, 17) vorgesehen.
