The sewing machine (2) can be switched from straight to zigzag stitch mode by regulating the pivoting frequency of the needle bar holder (31) relatively to the oscillatory frequence of the needle bar (10) by means of a multistep gearbox (49). Said gearbox is suitable for use in sewing machines.

Dans une machine à coudre avec unité de piqûre pivotable, un agencement permet de former des points de couture droits ou en zig-zag dépourvus de points à boucle sur l'objet cousu qui peut se déplacer sans pivoter sous l'aiguille grâce à l'agencement pivotable de la tête et du support de la navette. On peut faire passer la machine à coudre (2) de points droits à des points en zig-zag en ajustant au moyen d'un engrenage (49) à plusieurs rapports la fréquence d'oscillation du support (31) de la barre à aiguille par rapport à la fréquence d'oscillation de la barre à aiguille (10). Cet engrenage convient pour des machines à coudre.
