Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0416355A2] An equilibrator for a gun mounting, in particular a heavy-gun mounting, having a part (1) which is pivotable in the elevation direction and carries the barrel and which is mounted in a fixed stand (2) via a trunnion (1.1). The equilibrator possesses a torsion-bar spring (4) which is arranged parallel to the axis of rotation of the trunnion (1.1) in front of the trunnion in the firing direction and underneath the pivotable part (1) of the gun and the first end (4.0) of which is connected fixedly in terms of rotation to the stand, whilst the second end (4.1) is connected to the pivotable part (1) of the gun via a lever mechanism (4.2) containing a spring strut (5). By an appropriate design of the lever mechanism (4.2) and of the spring strut (5), the torque counteracting the unbalance moment can be varied and therefore the characteristic of the equilibrator adapted to the unbalance curve of the gun elevation. <IMAGE>
