Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0416438A2] The invention relates to a reel splicing device for wrapping webs on packaging machines, with two supply paths, in each case for one wrapping path, which open into a common supply path, a pair of rollers (9) being arranged at the start of the common supply path, and with in each case a cutter (11) for both wrapping webs. In order to make possible automatic connection of two wrapping webs, it is envisaged that, for each wrapping web, a clamping strip (17), which interacts with a support (15), is provided in front of the entrance into the gap of the pair of rollers (9), the clamping strips (17) being releasable both manually and via cam mechanisms coupled to the shafts (4) of the rollers (9), and that the rollers (9) each support a cutter (11), an elastic casing section (12) in front of this in the direction of rotation, and a further casing section (13) offset thereto by approximately 180 DEG , the casing sections (12, 13), which come into engagement with one another during roller rotation and project in relation to the roller periphery, forming the transporting roller gap, and the rollers (9) being mounted offset in relation to one another by 180 DEG . <IMAGE>
