[origin: EP0416708A2] The invention relates to an X-ray generator for operating an X-ray tube with earthed tube parts and with a high-voltage transformer arrangement having in each case a secondary winding for generating the positive and negative high-voltage for the anode and cathode respectively of the X-ray tube. The unfavourable voltage distribution produced when such an X-ray tube is supplied by a high-impedance generator is overcome in a simple manner in that the two secondary windings each have a primary winding allocated to them and that an inductor can be connected in series with the primary winding for generating the anode voltage, by means of a switching device. <IMAGE>
