Abstract (en)
Keying and fastening of mating connectors (10,110) includes pairs of mating key members (30,130), ones (130) of which include central apertures (144) through which extend respective jackscrews (160) having threaded leading ends (162), and the others (30) of which have threaded apertures (34) into which the jackscrews threaded to fasten the connectors together after the pairs of keys permit connector mating. The keys (130) in which the jackscrews (160) are mounted permit rotating the jackscrews. The jackscrew leading ends (164) are recessed slightly behind the leading ends (136) of hood-like keying projections (132) of the key members for protection against damage and misalignment, The threaded apertures (34) of the other keys extend to the leading ends (36) of the keying projections (32) thereof which are adapted to receive the corresponding hood-like keying projections (132) in axial recesses along the outer surfaces extending about halfway around the circumference of the key (30).
