Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0416972A1] Installation for detecting a person overboard from a boat, in which a circuit (22) transmits a low-frequency interrogation signal to a loop (16, 18, 20) arranged on the periphery of the deck (12). Transceivers carried by each person on board, when they detect the intense signal transmitted by the loop, send back a high-frequency signal which is detected by the circuit. As the field is extremely weak outside the loop, a person falling into the sea is detected very clearly by the disappearance of the response of the transceiver which has not received the interrogation signal. <IMAGE>
