Abstract (en)
In the sizing of papers containing calcium carbonate with resin size dispersions, the procedure for avoiding decomposition of the calcium carbonate by the solutions, used for the precipitation and fixing of the resin size, of aluminium salts having an acidic reaction, is as follows: An aqueous colloidal solution of homogeneous aluminium hydroxide is prepared, which contains 0.1 to 50 g/litre of aluminium hydroxide and has a pH of 6 to 8. During or immediately after its formation, this colloidal solution is mixed under turbulent flow conditions with the paper pulp or the resin size dispersion. To prepare the colloidal solution, an aqueous solution containing 1 to 40 g/litre of an aluminium salt having an acidic reaction can either be mixed under turbulent flow conditions in the stoichiometric ratio with an aqueous solution which contains 1 to 50 g/litre of at least one substance having an alkaline reaction, or it can be passed over an anion exchanger in the OH form.

Um beim Leimen von calciumcarbonathaltigen Papieren mit Harzleim-Dispersionen die Zersetzung des Calciumcarbonats durch die zur Ausfällung und Fixierung des Harzleims verwendeten Lösungen von sauer reagierenden Aluminiumsalzen zu vermeiden, geht man wie folgt vor: Man stellt eine wässrige kolloidale Lösung von homogenem Aluminiumhydroxid her, die 0,1 bis 50 g/Liter Aluminiumhydroxid enthält und einen pH-Wert von 6 bis 8 hat. Diese kolloidale Lösung vermischt man während oder unmittelbar nach ihrer Entstehung unter turbulenten Strömungsbedingungen mit dem Papierstoff oder der Harzleim-Dispersion. Zur Herstellung der kolloidalen Lösung kann man eine wässrige Lösung, die 1 bis 40 g/Liter eines sauer reagierenden Aluminiumsalzes enthält, entweder unter turbulenten Strömungsbedingungen in stöchiometrischem Verhältnis mit einer wässrigen Lösung mischen, die 1 bis 50 g/Liter mindestens einer alkalisch reagierenden Substanz enthält, oder sie über einen Anionenaustauscher in der OH-Form leiten.
