Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0418411A1] The fire alarm records different fire characteristics (BKG), the smoke density (RD) being measured by a smoke sensor, and the heat or temperature (T) being measured by a temperature sensor, and these values being stored for further processing. According to the invention, there is additionally arranged in the fire alarm a humidity sensor by which the relative air humidity (RF) is measured and stored intermediately. A smoke alarm and at least one test value memory in which the water vapour saturation curve is stored use the stored data of the saturation curve, the measured temperature (T) and the measured relative air humidity to compute the absolute air humidity (AF) and store the computed value as a new and additional fire characteristic, that is to say absolute humidity (AF), for further processing. The three fire characteristics (RD, T and AF) are related in a logic device in such a way as to derive therefrom fire alarm criteria for forming an alarm signal. In this case, the calculation of the fire characteristic (AF) and/or the alarm derivation can be carried out either in the fire alarm itself or in the fire alarm control centre, the corresponding measured values (RD, T, RF and AF) being transmitted periodically, or the alarm signal being transmitted to the fire alarm control centre. <IMAGE>
