[origin: EP0420111A1] The system for the selective moistening of envelope flaps is of the type comprising a moistening element and a pivoting moistening deflector controlled so that the flap is either moistened or not moistened. It is characterised in that it also comprises a sliding bar (15) mounted pivotably in front of the moistening element and caused to move between a projecting position and a retracted position in front of the moistening element (10), and in that said moistening deflector is designed to cooperate with the sliding bar and the moistening element and is coupled to the bar so that they are actuated practically simultaneously. <IMAGE>
