Abstract (en)
A data processing system comprises a touch screen and a digitizing tablet integrated with one another to constitute a compact multipurpose data input device. The touch screen and the digitizing tablet are activatable independently of each other by proper stimuli. Preferably the input device is integrated with a flat panel display of the LCD-type in view of dimensions and costs in order to establish a visual feedback to the user or to present information pertaining to the entered data after processing. Preferably, the system is provided with a means to emulate a keyboard using virtual keys, and with a means to emulate a "mouse". Thus, a compact data processing system with a display is realized, that has been equipped with a data input device enabling the most current ways of data entry.
