Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0421083A2] On a folding jaw cylinder (12), there are provided in each case between adjacent folding jaws (13) flattenings or hollows (18) which can possibly be closed by elastic covers (19). The hollows (18) are arranged in such a manner that, when the folding strips (8) or slotted beams (11) run through the gap (median line A) between the puncture and the folding knife cylinder (6) and the folding jaw cylinder (12), they lie opposite these. As a result, a gap widening virtually takes place so that stoppers or paper accumulations which arise can pass through the gap of the cylinders (6, 12), without one of the cylinders (6, 12) being damaged as a result. At the remaining peripheral regions, a gap widening is made possible by carrying out diameter adjustments (17) in the eccentrically mounted bolt. In the event of a paper jam, these segments can thus yield. In the region of the beams (11) or cutting strips (8) also, a gap widening is then achieved according to the invention when these parts run through the gap by flattenings or hollows (18). <IMAGE>
