Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0421174A2] In order to connect a computer to a local area network, it is proposed that the actual connecting element which produces the physical coupling between the lead of the network and the computer circuit be accommodated in a connecting socket which can be installed in a cable duct. If this consists of a passive circuit, the invention proposes that a twisted-pair cable of precisely defined impedance be used as the connecting element, which permits the connecting cable to have a length of up to more than 2 m. <IMAGE>
