Abstract (en)
[origin: JPH03136797A] PURPOSE: To increase suction force usable between a tool and a beam by putting at least one among plural chambers in a vacuum state, and connecting this to the rear of the tool through a duct. CONSTITUTION: A platen press for cutting, creasing or embossing sheet-like materials, has a lower movable beam 2 to support a sheet 4 and an upper fixed beam 1 to which a tool 3 is fitted. Plural chambers 18a, 18b are arranged inside the upper fixed beam 1 to prevent bending of the tool 3 in a work position. Among these chambers 18a, 18b, one end of one chamber 18b is connected to a vacuum pump so that the other end is connected to the rear surface of the tool 3 through a duct 23 to press the tool 3 to the upper beam 1 by the sucking action.
