[origin: EP0422370A1] These intake and exhaust conduits of an in-line internal combustion engine fitted transversely into a motor vehicle are arranged with fixing flanges (16-19) on a longitudinal side of the cylinder head - Uniflow principle - and form an integrally cast standard unit. At the same time each intake conduit (7-10) and exhaust conduit (11-14) of these intake and exhaust conduits are paired on the fixing flanges. Between the intake and exhaust conduits thus structured, thermal expansion slots (25-27) are provided in the fixing plates. <IMAGE>
