Trace elements can be removed at least partially from hydrocarbon mixtures by means of a treatment with a synthetic polymer containing thiourea groups. This is important especially for simultaneous substantial removal of mercury and a considerable reduction in the arsenic content.

Kohlenwasserstoffgemische können durch eine Behandlung mit einem synthetischen Polymer, das Thioharnstoffgruppen enthält, mindestens teilweise von Spurenelementen befreit werden. Dies ist insbesondere wichtig für die gleichzeitige weitgehende Entfernung von Quecksilber und beträchtliche Absenkung des Gehalts an Arsen.
