A cable tapping device has an outer housing (11, 12) of high strength, consisting especially of metal, in which there is inserted at least one terminal body (37, 38, 39, 40) which is equipped with at least one row of teeth (71, 72, 73, 74). The teeth (71...) press through the cable jacket of a main cable to the cable core during clamping. Each terminal body (37...) is provided with a hole (75) for holding the stripped end of a tapped cable. Provided for clamping is a mating piece (44, 45) against which the main cable is pressed, each row of teeth running at right angles to the direction of the hole axis. In this case, the distance of the tip of at least one tooth (72, 73), which is located between two external teeth (71, 74) of each row (67, 68, 69, 70), from the centre plane which contains the hole axis and runs at right angles to the clamping direction is greater than the distance of the tips of the two external teeth from the centre plane (lateral centre plane). The teeth run approximately parallel to the clamping direction. Eine Kabelabzweigklemme besitzt ein Außengehäuse (11,12) mit hoher Festigkeit, insbesondere aus Metall, in dem wenigstens ein Klemmkörper (37,38,39,40), der mit wenigstens einer Reihe von Zähnen (71,72,73,74) ausgestattet ist, eingesetzt ist. Die Zähne (71...) drück sich beim Verklemmen durch den Kabelmantel eines Hauptkabels hindurch zur Kabelseele. Jeder Klemmkörper (37...) ist mit einer Bohrung (75) zur Aufnahme des abisolierten Endes eines Abzweigkabels versehen. Zum Verklemmen ist ein Gegenstück (44,45) vorgesehen, gegen das das Hauptkabel gedrückt wird, wobei jede Reihe von Zähnen quer zur Richtung der Bohrungsachse verläuft. Dabei ist der Abstand der Spitze wenigstens eines (72,73) zwischen zwei außenliegenden Zähnen (71,74) jeder Reihe (67,68,69,70) befindlichen Zahnes von der die Bohrungsachse enthaltenden, quer zur Klemmrichtung verlaufenden Mittelebene größer als der Abstand der Spitzen der beiden außenliegenden Zähne von der Mittelebene (Quermittelebene). Die Zähne verlaufen angenähert parallel zur Klemmrichtung. Aufgrund der Zahnform und Zahnlänge können unterschiedliche Kabel mit beliebigem Durchmesser verklemmt werden, wobei jeder Klemmkörper (37...) iin zwei um 180° versetzten Stellungen in der Abzweigklemme (10) einsetzbar ist. <IMAGE>
