[origin: US5102293A] Two vertically displaceable slides (5, 9) carry in horizontally movable fashion a tabletop (1) and, respectively, a gripper with an upper gripper jaw (6) and a gripper base (7). The gripper base (7) contains a horizontally displaceable blade (12) and supporting elements (24, 25) which are horizontally displaceable and also vertically movable with respect to the blade (12). A Stack of sheets is set up in front of the tabletop (1). The slides (5, 9) are lowered until the upper gripper jaw (6) rests on the sheet stack. The blade (12), previously retracted into the gripper base (7), is then made to pierce the stack of sheets at an exactly settable distance below the upper gripper jaw (6). The slides (5, 9) are slightly elevated in order to form a gap in the sheet stack with the blade (12). The supporting elements (24, 25) are pushed into the gap below the blade (12), and are then urged upwardly past the level of the blade (12) so that they alone bear the weight of the sheets resting thereon. Upon further elevation of the slides (5, 9) until the tabletop (1) can be introduced into the gap, the blade (12) thus cannot damage the sheets.

Zwei vertikal verschiebbare Schlitten (5, 9) tragen horizontal verschiebbar eine Tischplatte (1) bzw. eine Zange mit einer oberen Zangenbacke (6) und einem Zangenunterteil (7). Der Zangenunterteil (7) enthält Sein horizontal verschiebbares Messer (12) und horizontal verschiebbare sowie bezüglich des Messers (12) vertikal bewegbare Tragelemente (24, 25). Vor der Tischplatte (1) wird ein Blätterstapel (3) aufgestellt. Die Schlitten (5, 9) werden gesenkt, bis die obere Zangenbacke (6) auf dem Blätterstapel (3) aufliegt. Das zuvor in den Zangenunterteil (7) zurückgezogene Messer (12) wird dann in einem genau einstellbaren Abstand unter der oberen Zangenbacke (6) in den Blätterstapel (3) eingestochen. Die Schlitten (5, 9) werden wenig gehoben, um mit dem Messer (12) im Blätterstapel (3) einen Spalt zu bilden. In den Spalt werden unterhalb des Messers (12) die Tragelemente (24, 25) geschoben und dann bis über die Höhe des Messers (12) nach oben gedrückt, so daß sie allein das Gewicht der aufliegenden Blätter (3.1) tragen. Beim weiteren Heben der Schlitten (5, 9), bis die Tischplatte (1) in den Spalt eingefahren werden kann, kann daher das Messer (12) die Blätter nicht beschädigen. <IMAGE>
