[origin: EP0423378A1] In the continuous drawing of, for example, seamless metal tubes joined together by butt welding, the joints generally do not have the required strength to transmit the drawing forces occurring during the drawing process. The method according to the invention first of all brings the joints up to the same strength as the adjoining tube material and then draws the total length produced to a uniform wall thickness. The equal strength can here preferably be achieved by heat treatment in the region of the joints.
