A shut-off and/or control element for a metallurgical container (2) has a fixed vertical inner tube (3) with a lateral outlet (9) and an outer tube (6) displaceable relative to the inner tube and having a lateral opening (12). <??>In order to control the outflow height and hence the outflow rate, the extent of the outlet (9) is greater than that of the opening (12). At the top end of the working stroke (A), the outlet (9) is closed in its lower zone. At the bottom end of the working stroke (A), the outlet (9) is closed in its upper zone. <IMAGE>

Ein Schließ- und/oder Regelorgan eines metallurgischen Gefäßes (2) weist ein ortsfestes vertikales Innenrohr (3) mit einer seitliche Öffnung (9) und ein diesem gegenüber verschiebliches Außenrohr (6) mit einer seitlichen Durchbrechung (12) auf. Um die Ausflußhöhe und damit die Ausfließgeschwindigkeit zu steuern, ist die Erstreckung der Öffnung (9) größer als die der Durchbrechung (12). Am oberen Ende des Arbeitshubes (A) ist die Öffnung (9) in ihrer unteren Zone geschlossen. Am unteren Ende des Arbeitshubes (A) ist die Öffnung (9) in ihrer oberen Zone geschlossen. <IMAGE>
