[origin: EP0423579A1] In this cleaning device for the charging- and discharging-casting siphon (3, 4) of a furnace (1) suitable for holding molten metal (7) - in particular a regenerative or die-casting furnace - a frame (28) is placed on an opened siphon (3, 4) and connected to the latter. The frame (28) serves to guide and drive a cleaning tool, for example a ram (16), a bit (21, 22) or a bolt (23 to 26), which tool penetrates into the siphon passage (13) and frees the latter from slag incrustations (17). The cleaning tool can be driven uniformly in translation, in translatory and reciprocating fashion or in translatory fashion with impulses of a hammer drill. In addition, the cleaning tool can be rotated. Hydraulic, pneumatic and/or electric units can be used for driving. <IMAGE>
