[origin: EP0423586A2] The alarm clock (1) consists of a rocker (21) which closes and opens a switching contact in order to produce and cancel the alarm-set state. The rocker (21) has an actuation face (22) which can be controlled manually and is mounted so as to be rotatable about an axis (48). The rocker (21) is let into a recess (28) of the housing (2, 14) in such a way that when not in the alarm-set state the actuation face (22) of the rocker (21) forms part of the contour (16) of the one housing (2) and that in the alarm-set state one part of the actuation face (22) protrudes out of the contour (16) of the housing (2) on this side of the axis (48) of rotation of the rocker (21) while the other part of the actuation face (22) penetrates the recess (28) of the housing (2) on the other side of the axis (48) of rotation. According to the invention, the axis about which the rocker (21) can be rotated is located on the one hand outside the contour (16) of the housing (2) and on the other hand extends parallel to the axis (23) of the hands of the alarm clock (1). <IMAGE>
