[origin: EP0423655A1] The safety device comprises a slide (4) which is arranged on the chamber-side end of the trough (25) supporting the packings. This slide is pushed upwards by a small compressed-air cylinder (8) and closes the access to the chamber space virtually completely. If the slide encounters an obstacle, it emits a signal which stops the drive. After closing of the slide, the work process of the chamber begins. <IMAGE>
