[origin: EP0424568A1] The invention relates to a method for pressure reduction in a pressure vessel (1), especially in a pressure vessel of a pressurised water reactor. In this case, non-condensable gas, steam or water is dischared from the pressure vessel (1) via a rising line (2, 3) and a valve (4, 5). The invention also relates to an apparatus for carrying out this method. It is provided that the non-condensable gas is continuously extracted from the rising line (2, 3), even when the valve (4, 5) is closed. The carrying out of this method is served, for example, by an apparatus consisting of a suction line (9, 10), which branches off from the rising line (2, 3) on the pressure-vessel side directly upstream of the valve (4, 5) and is continuously connected to the pressure vessel (1) in a circuit via a pump, even when the valve (4, 5) is closed. As a result, warm medium is continuously conducted from the pressure vessel (1) through the rising line (2, 3).
