The guide jaws (28, 29) can be moved back and forth along the axis of movement (3) of the ram (7) in relation to the stapler head (16). The stapler head (16) is connected to a body (2) of the bristle stapler (1) by a guide with a spring (21) so that the stapler head (16) can be moved back and forth in relation to the body (2) in the direction of the axis of movement (3) of the ram (7). The guide jaws (28 and 29) are coupled to each other via lever means (60, 61, 62, 63, 64) in such a way that a forward movement of one guide jaw (28 or 29) in the direction of the axis of movement (3) is coupled with a reverse movement of the other guide jaw (29 or 28).
