[origin: EP0424787A2] Unsaturated macrocyclic lactones of formula <IMAGE> containing a double bond of trans configuration in either of positions 11 and 12 as indicated by the dotted lines, and their mixtures, are useful as perfuming ingredients for preparing perfuming compositions and scented articles, to which they impart musky and animal notes of a rare power and substantivity.
