Suspension and handling device integrated in the supporting legs of a self-elevating oil-prospecting platform, comprising a shell mounted displaceably on the legs by means of drive mechanisms comprising at least two opposed assemblies (12a, 12b), each formed by a motor (13) associated with at least one reducer (14, 15) driving an output pinion (11) interacting with opposed racks (5) mounted on at least some of the length of the legs, said opposed assemblies (12a, 12b) of each drive mechanism being mounted in an articulated manner on a structure (20) supporting them by means of at least one bearing (17, 18a, 18b) allowing a specific angular movement of said assemblies and of each corresponding output pinion, characterised in that said motor (13) and said at least one reducer (14, 15) of each opposed assembly (12a, 12b) are accommodated in an energy-absorbing member (21), used particularly at the moment of installation of the legs on the sea bottom, and for limiting the stresses due to the bending of said legs under the action of the swell and the wind. <IMAGE>

Dispositif de suspension et de manutention intégrées des jambes de support de plate-forme pétrolière auto-élévatrice comprenant une coque montée déplaçable sur les jambes au moyen de mécanismes d'entrainement comportant au moins deux ensembles (12a, 12b) opposés formés chacun par un moteur (13) associés à au moins un réducteur (14, 15) entrainant un pignon de sortie (11) coopérant avec des crémaillères opposées (5) montées sur une partie au moins de la longueur des jambes, lesdits ensembles opposés (12a, 12b) de chaque mécanisme d'entrainement étant montés articulés sur une structure (20) les supportant par l'intermédiaire d'au moins un palier (17, 18a, 18b) autorisant un débattement angulaire déterminé desdits ensembles et de chaque pignon de sortie correspondant, caractérisé en ce que ledit moteur (13) et ledit au moins réducteur (14, 15) de chaque ensemble opposé (12a, 12b) est logé dans un organe (21) d'absorption d'énergie, utilisé notamment au moment de la pose des jambes sur le fond marin, et de limitation des contraintes dûes à la flexion desdites jambes sous l'action de la houle et du vent.
