Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0425339A1] Suspension and handling device integrated in the supporting legs of a self-elevating oil-prospecting platform, comprising a shell mounted displaceably on the legs by means of drive mechanisms comprising at least two opposed assemblies (12a, 12b), each formed by a motor (13) associated with at least one reducer (14, 15) driving an output pinion (11) interacting with opposed racks (5) mounted on at least some of the length of the legs, said opposed assemblies (12a, 12b) of each drive mechanism being mounted in an articulated manner on a structure (20) supporting them by means of at least one bearing (17, 18a, 18b) allowing a specific angular movement of said assemblies and of each corresponding output pinion, characterised in that said motor (13) and said at least one reducer (14, 15) of each opposed assembly (12a, 12b) are accommodated in an energy-absorbing member (21), used particularly at the moment of installation of the legs on the sea bottom, and for limiting the stresses due to the bending of said legs under the action of the swell and the wind. <IMAGE>
