[origin: EP0425715A1] The strip accumulator installation is of the type with a strip accumulator (1) in strip treatment installations. The strip accumulator (1) is divided into two or more accumulator sections (1a, 1b, 1c). Each accumulator section (1a, 1b, 1c) has its own traction drive (5a, 5b, 5c). Between the accumulator sections, speed-controlled intermediate strip drives (7, 8) are arranged. These intermediate strip drives (7, 8) make up the bending and friction losses of the previous intermediate accumulator so that the incoming traction value of the first loop section of each intermediate accumulator is the same size. As a result of this, a strip accumulator with any accumulation capacity can be made in a simple and operationally reliable construction. <IMAGE>
