[origin: EP0426022A2] A plate cylinder of a printing press is described, wherein, for correcting an out-of-register position of the printing plate in the press, means are provided in order initially to loosen the rear tensioning strip after the printing plate has been mounted on the plate cylinder, after which the front tensioning strip is tilted by the desired amount. Subsequently, rear stops are retracted and the rear tensioning strip is tensioned via spring force. The steps described are repeated if necessary. Means are also proposed for appreciably reducing the sliding friction between the plate cylinder and the printing plate. <IMAGE>
