Abstract (en)
The invention relates to an engine, the compression ratio of which varies in operation due to movement of the crankshaft in relation to the cylinder head. It comprises an independent cylinder block 1 and crankshaft block 3, the first receiving the cylinder head and the second the crankshaft 2, the connecting rods and the pistons; the two blocks are moved one in relation to the other by means of a displacement device 6, 7, 8 and are held connected together by support and guide elements. The relative displacement of the two blocks modifies the volume of the combustion chambers and allows the maximum admissible pressure to be maintained there so that the engine functions with maximum efficiency. The present engine gives fuel economy at low load and excess power at high speed. It is intended particularly for touring and racing cars. <IMAGE>

L'invention concerne un moteur dont le rapport volumétrique varie pendant la marche par déplacement du vilebrequin par rapport à la culasse. Il est constitué d'un bloc-cylindres 1 et d'un bloc-vilebrequin 3 indépendants, le premier recevant la culasse et le second le vilebrequin 2, les bielles et les pistons; les deux blocs se déplacent l'un par rapport à l'autre grâce à un dispositif de déplacement 6, 7, 8 et sont maintenus reliés l'un à l'autre par des organes de maintien et de guidage. Le déplacement relatif des deux blocs modifie le volume des chambres de combustion et permet d'y maintenir la pression maximum admissible afin que le moteur fonctionne à son meilleur rendement. Le présent moteur procure une économie de consommation à faible charge et un surplus de puissance à haut régime. Il est particulièrement destiné aux automobiles de tourisme et de course.
