[origin: WO9000971A1] The invention concerns an ink reservoir for printing devices, with a built-in safeguard (24) against unauthorized refilling. The safeguard (24) consists of a security element which can be scanned by an ink monitoring device in the printing device. The security element is directly associated with the ink reservoir and its scannable characteristic data are irreversibly changed when the ink supply drops below a certain minimum amount. The security element (24) can be designed as an electrical fuse which blows when the ink supply falls below the minimum level.
