[origin: WO9005648A1] A cover system (2) for a vehicle (4) includes a flexible cover (6), preferably of nylon, having a leading edge (12), a trailing edge (16) and side edges (14), of a suitable dimension to fit over the entire vehicle from the rear bumper to the front bumper and sides thereof. The flexible cover (6) includes an elastic leader segment (10) attached at a first end to the cover and spaced from the trailing edge (16) thereof. A second end of the leader segment is attached to a rotatable spool (9) housed in a containment tube (8). The spool is rotated for reeling in the cover by a motor (32), or by a spring-biased shaft arrangement (86) or by a manually turnable crank (21, 23), or by combinations thereof. The containment tube (8) is pivotally mounted by straps (26) to the interior of the trunk for storage therein and is adapted to be pivotally swung outwardly from the trunk to an operable position at the rear of the trunk lid.

Un système de couverture (2) pour un véhicule (4) comprend une couverture flexible (6), de préférence en nylon ayant un bord d'attaque (12), un bord de fuite (16) et des bords latéraux (14), d'une dimension appropriée pour s'adapter au véhicule tout entier depuis le pare-chocs arrière jusqu'au pare-chocs avant et les côtés du véhicule. La couverture flexible (6) comprend un segment élastique de guidage (10) fixé à une première extrémité de la couverture et espacé par rapport au bord de fuite (16) de la couverture. Une seconde extrémité du segment de guidage est fixée à une bobine rotative (9) logée dans un tube de confinement (8). La bobine est mise en rotation (32) pour enrouler la couverture, ou bien par un agencement à arbre sollicité par ressort (86) ou par une manivelle manuelle (21, 23), ou par des combinaisons de ces systèmes. Le tube de confinement (8) est monté pivotant à l'aide de sangles (26) à l'intérieur du coffre du véhicule pour le ranger et il est adapté pour basculer vers l'extérieur du coffre du véhicule vers une position d'utilisation à l'arrière du capot du coffre.
