In this case, the metering roller (10) is arranged in a swinging element (15) so as to be capable of pivoting about a horizontal axis perpendicular to the direction of the adjustment stroke, the swinging element (15) itself being pivotably seated in a horizontally displaceable, lockable bearing block (14). A pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder (16) which acts on the swinging element (15) in order to set the adjustment stroke and thus the contact pressure between the application roller (11) and metering roller (10) is permanently arranged in this bearing block. With this arrangement, frictional effects are reduced to a minimum and extremely precise control of the application gap, in particular even with low contact forces, is thus made possible. <IMAGE>
