[origin: WO9015190A1] A security paper can be used to produce documents which can be identified as genuine by means of a colour reaction system consisting of a colour-forming component and a colour-developing component and based on the principle of pressure-sensitive duplicating paper. The colour-forming component is applied to the paper, which contains the colour-developing component, by means of a marking device. A number of drawbacks are associated with known security systems for documents based on the principle of pressure-sensitive duplicating paper. The aim of the invention is to overcome these drawbacks. To this end, the security paper is placed in contact with a marking liquid which contains a colour-forming component. The reaction between the colour-developing component present in the paper and the colour-forming component occurs in the paper itself instead of on the surface as in conventional papers. The marking penetrates the paper and may even strike through on the other side, where it forms a mirror image. This marking cannot be removed from the document without destroying the document itself. A further major advantage of the invention is that a paper with an incorporated colour-developing component is a true security paper, i.e., comparable with conventional special papers (with fluorescent inlays, small engravings, watermarks, metal threads, etc.) which are note available to the general public. This appreciably enhances the security.

Un papier de sécurité permet de produire des documents qui peuvent être identifiés comme authentiques au moyen d'un système de réaction chromogène formé d'un agent chromogène et d'un révélateur chromogène, selon le principe du papier de tirage sensible à la pression, l'agent chromogène étant appliqué sur le papier pourvu du révélateur chromogène au moyen d'un appareil de marquage. Il existe déjà des systèmes de sécurité pour documents qui fonctionnent selon le principe des papiers de tirage sensibles à la pression. Ces systèmes présentent toutefois des inconvénients que l'invention essaie d'éliminer. A cet effet, le révélateur chromogène est uniformément distribué dans le papier. Lorsque le papier de sécurité est mis en contact avec un fluide de marquage qui contient un agent chromogène, la réaction entre le révélateur chromogène présent dans le papier et l'agent chromogène ne se produit plus, comme jusqu'à maintenant, à la surface du papier, mais dans le papier lui-même. Le marquage pénètre ainsi dans le papier et peut même le traverser jusqu'à l'autre face, où il est reproduit à l'envers. Il devient donc impossible d'enlever un tel marquage du document sans détruire le document lui-même. Un autre grand avantage est le fait que ce papier à révélateur chromogène intégré représente ainsi un véritable papier de sécurité, comparable à d'autres papiers spéciaux usuels (pourvus par exemple d'insertions fluorescentes, de planchettes, de filigranes, de fils métalliques et similaires) non accessibles à tout un chacun, ce qui augmente considérablement la sécurité obtenue.
