[origin: DE3918075C1] A device for deflecting a ray beam through a predetermined angle O comprises a deflecting prism which rotates about the axis of an incident ray beam. The surface of the prism on which the incident rays impinge is approximately perpendicular to the axis of rotation. An imaging system is associated with the deflecting prism. The tilting of the axis of rotation from the direction of the deflected beam is 10 times less with the triangular prism than with a mirror or half-cube. The use of the triangular prism results in a much simpler device than one containing a Woolaston-type square prism or a pentagonal prism because it has only three plane optical surfaces instead of four, and only one of these surfaces has a reflecting coating (6) instead of two. Material costs can be cut by over 50 % and the manufacturing tolerances are subject to less stringent requirements.

Un dispositif de déviation d'un faisceau de rayons sur un angle prédéterminable O comprend un prisme déviateur rotatif autour de l'axe d'un faisceau incident de rayons (7), dont la surface (4) d'impact des rayons est approximativement perpendiculaire à l'axe de rotation. Le dispositif de déviation comprend en outre un système de reproduction associé au prisme déviateur. Le prisme triangulaire permet d'obtenir des basculements de l'axe de rotation, dans la direction du faisceau dévié, inférieurs d'un facteur 10 environ aux basculements obtenus avec un miroir ou un demi-cube. L'utilisation du prisme triangulaire représente une simplification considérable par rapport à l'utilisation d'un prisme quadrangulaire selon Wollaston ou d'un prisme pentagonal dans un dispositif du même type, étant donné qu'il présente uniquement trois faces optiquement planes au lieu de quatre, une seule étant pourvue d'une couche réfléchissante (6) au lieu des deux des autres types de prismes. On peut ainsi obtenir des économies de matériau supérieures à 50 %, avec des tolérances de fabrication moins contraignantes.
