In this short inking unit, the doctor blade of a scraper device rests against the screen roller. For the purpose of avoiding scraper smears, the scraper device can also be constructed to alternate in the axial direction. The disadvantage is that in this known inking unit ink passes between the screen roller and the doctor blade when the ink is scraped off, which leads to an accumulation of ink on the rear side of the doctor blade. It is a disadvantage that the known inking unit has no device for preventing the accumulation of ink. The short inking unit according to the invention is a short inking unit with a screen roller which is displaceable in the axial direction. In this manner, ink is prevented from accumulating on the rear side of the doctor blade device, even in the case of alternating doctor blades.
