[origin: EP0428894A2] The method is used for preparing a printing unit which comprises at least one inking unit with a screen roller interacting with a doctor blade, which screen roller can be coated with an exchangeable outer screen surface provided with ink-conducting cups, is driven at the speed of the forme cylinder and whose diameter in the operative state is equal to the diameter of the forme cylinder to which a printing forme has been applied. To produce the outer screen surface, the method provides for the latter to be fitted with a cup configuration which is adapted at least in some regions to the ink requirement of the corresponding regions of the printing forme and for the outer screen surface then to be inserted into the printing unit with the associated printing forme. <IMAGE>
