Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0429852A2] A printing tower (1) comprises two superposed printing units (2, 3) of the satellite type. At least one satellite printing unit (2) is constructed such that adjacent blanket cylinders (6, 7 or 10, 12) can be placed against one another approximately in a horizontal plane (31). As a result, a web (22) of printing carrier, which has already been provided with ink on one side, can be fed, coming from below, to the satellite cylinder (4) and guided around the latter, after which the web (22) of printing carrier, coated with ink on both sides, can be guided vertically out of the upper satellite printing unit (2). A smear prevention or cleaning device (30) can be arranged between the ascending and descending region of the web (22) of printing carrier in order to remove ink being deposited on the satellite cylinder (4) or to prevent such deposits. Due to the advantageous guiding of the web, both the lower and the upper satellite printing units (2 and 3) are each freely accessible from both sides.
