Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0429927A2] The extraction system for exhaust gases of motor vehicles which are moved by a first conveyor (1) on a platform (2) or over the latter, is provided with a suction slot channel (4) which is arranged beneath the platform and has an elastic, axially extending lip seal (3) through which a suction nozzle (22) of a suction carriage (20) which moves synchronously with the motor vehicle passes. The suction carriage has a suction hood (21) for connection to the exhaust of a motor vehicle. The suction carriage runs on an endless rail with reverse running (5), the suction slot channel being located at a higher level. In order to avoid a mechanical coupling of suction carriage and motor vehicle and exhaust, respectively, and thus to avoid the corresponding use of working forces, in addition to the first conveyor (1) for the motor vehicles a second endless conveyor (9) which moves synchronously with the first is provided, which second conveyor has a multiplicity of drivers (9) for the suction carriages (20). Provided on each suction carriage is a motor-operated - preferably by means of an electromagnet (29) - latch 30 by means of which the connection and coupling to a driver (10) of the second conveyor (9) are produced or dissolved. By means of a correspondingly matched control with the aid of an endless current rail (8) which extends in parallel, the latches (30) are connected to the drivers, and separated from the latter, in such a way that the suction carriages or their suction hoods (21) are automatically connected to the exhaust of the associated motor vehicle and separated again from the latter after running through a test distance.
