[origin: EP0430258A1] A cooling arrangement for a multi-valve engine having a pair of adjacent exhaust ports @ @ that extend from the combustion chamber to exhaust port openings formed in the side of the cylinder head. A spark plug well (83) is formed between the exhaust passages @ and thus provides a vertical wall that precludes the flow of coolant from between the exhaust passages to the opposite side of the cylinder head. Several embodiments of arrangements are provided for insuring a circulating flow of coolant through a sub-coolant jacket formed between the passages and the spark plug well. <IMAGE>
