Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0430785A2] Process for anionic polymerisation of an N-substituted maleimide in a solvent and in the presence of at least one alkali metal organometallic initiator, where the initiator employed is sec-butyl-lithium, sodium alcoholates, diphenylmethylpotassium or naphthalene- lithium or -sodium; a process for the preparation of polymer based on N-substituted maleimide with a narrow molecular mass distribution by anionic polymerisation of maleimide in a solvent and in the presence of an initiating system consisting of at least one alkali metal organometallic initiator and of at least one inorganic salt and/or an organic salt of an alkali or alkaline-earth metal; a polymer block based on N-substituted maleimide of mean molecular weight 12,000-100,000; a polymer block based on N-substituted maleimide of polydispersity 1.1-1.5; and a multiblock copolymer in which at least one polymer block based on N-substituted maleimide is used in combination with at least one polymer block based on (meth)acrylic monomer.
